Starting from scratch

I went out to Whitman Park on my own today. I needed some well deserved fun time off. First, I would go for a wander around the Mussel Pool area, then go to the Village and the wildlife park. I took my binocs, and took my time.  I never got to the wildlife park. A shady car park caught my eye on the way, so I stopped there. This was one of the many picnic spots, but more secluded than the rest.

It was perfect, I thought, for doing reactive dog training. I found a bench and chilled out there, which is what I needed to do most, and what I hadn’t managed on my earlier wander. I saw a family of black ducks and my first grey teals go by.

I resolved that the best start for this endeavour was for me to get completely comfortable with this space, to know it well, and to form a habit of going there.
